Do I need a landscape plan, and what does it cost?
Landscaping is an extension of your home, and it should be planned as
carefully as any major investment or home improvement. Good design
does not just happen. It requires site evaluation, careful thought, and an
exchange of ideas. Planning ahead saves time and money. A professionally
prepared landscape plan will help avoid costly mistakes, keep the project
on time and on budget, and allow for installation in logical phases. And
remember, we love challenges! Design fees are determined by the scope of
your project and the site conditions of your property. Invest wisely and you
will enjoy the rewards while you are in your home as well as when it is time
to sell.

What is the landscape design/install process?
Successful landscaping, from initial design to completion, is a process:

Initial Visit
During our first visit, we introduce you to our company by presenting our
portfolio and a sampling of our landscape plans. Your input is important. We
ask questions about how you intend to use your yard or garden. This is the time
to share your wish list or any concerns about your property. Preliminary budget
ranges are explored. The Design/Build Agreement and fees are explained. There
is no charge for this initial visit.

Depending on the scope of your project, the work of designing your landscape
can take four to eight weeks. With a signed Design Agreement and deposit,
we are ready to begin!

Site Information
Accurate information about your site is needed to begin design work. We ask
you to provide a Plat of Survey, blueprints, and other helpful information.
We visit your site and take photographs and measurements. With the information
gathered, we create a base plan.

Conceptual Landscape Plan
Using the base plan and the information gathered during the Initial Visit, our
creative team of landscape architects and designers prepare a conceptual plan
for your landscape.

Preliminary Plan Meeting
We meet to review your Conceptual Landscape Plan and explain our ideas.
We encourage your thoughts and input, as now is the ideal time to make
modifications. This step helps insure you will be pleased with your Landscape
Plan. We explore alternatives and look at material choices, plant types,
preliminary costs, and phasing options.

Landscape Plan
With the information from the Preliminary Plan Meeting in hand, our creative
team proceeds with the work on your Landscape Plan. This plan is more detailed
and specific than the conceptual plan. Material choices are finalized and plant
choices are made.

Landscape Plan Meeting
At this meeting, we present your completed Landscape Plan. We provide accurate
proposals for installation, discuss the proper phasing of the work, and determine the
installation schedule.

Construction/Installation
To place your project on our schedule and order the materials, we ask that you
sign and return the proposal with a 50 percent deposit. We plan ahead to ensure
an efficient installation in a timely manner. Your designer remains active as your
project manager, helping to schedule the work, order materials, answer questions,
make site visits, and monitor your project.

Walk-Through Meeting
When your installation is completed, we like to meet and walk through your
landscape project with you. We provide care and maintenance instructions and
answer any questions.

Follow Up
StoneOak Landscapes will make periodic visits to monitor the initial “growing in”
of your landscape project. We note any warranty items that may need to be taken
care of, and if necessary, we will make suggestions to insure your landscaping
continues to add value to your property. You may also call us at anytime with
questions.

What should I budget for landscaping?
It is difficult to determine an exact investment for a particular project before the
Landscape Plan is completed. Customers help determine their budget. Variables
include the size of your lot, the materials selected, the number and size of plantings,
etc. To do justice to your newly constructed home and to assure resale value, expect
to invest a minimum of 15–25 percent of the value of your lot and home.

Can I have my landscape installed in phases?

Absolutely. Many of our projects are completed in phases as your time and budget
allow. We work with you to determine logical phases for installation.

What do customers say about StoneOak Landscapes?

Our customers tend to be our best salespeople. Below are excerpts from some of
the letters we have received. These and other letters are on file at our office.
We would like to include yours!

“We love our yard and especially our new patio area. We wanted to let you know
how much we appreciate the extra effort that was put into the project. Of all the
contractors we’ve had working at our house over the past 14 months (and there
have been many), your crew was by far the hardest working and the quickest to
complete a job. The best part of this project was that everything turned out exactly
as expected or even better than expected. There were no surprises and no extra
costs! We’re looking forward to working with you again. Thanks so much for
everything.” — Sallie N. & Bob P., Brookfield

“Thank you for our great yard. We have had a couple of months to enjoy it now,
and it is working out great. Thanks for all your hard work.”
— Bill & Joan M., New Berlin

“Just a note to say how much we appreciated the plants you just installed. I also
want to say how much we like our walls that your company put in. I especially
like looking at them in winter when they kind of sparkle in the snow. Continued
success to you and thanks.” — Sue C., Greenfield

“Thanks for a quality job – we’ll tell our neighbors.”— Craig & Dawn H., Shorewood

“Thanks to you and your crew for a job well done. We really love the way the
lawn and plantings look. Thanks again.” — Warren G., Racine
